We are grateful to Harold Faulkner, of the United States. for researching a paper describing times when the Vikings settled Greenland during a warm cycle when temperatures were vastly higher than they are in this present era. Mr Faulkner's paper also details the importance to life on earth of the tiny amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere.
